What Do You Need to Stream Own?
There are a couple of things that you need to stream OWN. The first thing you need, possibly the most obvious, is a stable internet connection. Most internet service providers will offer standalone packages that are often cheaper than bundle deals that provide internet and cable that are offered as a “bargain.”
It might not be easy to compare different prices from the various cable companies in some cases. Luckily, there are several free online tools that you can use to make it quick and easy to compare prices.
The next thing you need to stream OWN is a streaming device. These devices are just tiny computers that you can plug into the back of your smart TV. Then you can use your internet connection to play the streaming services.
Just keep in mind that not every device will support all streaming services, but most devices will support the more popular streaming services. In most cases, experts will recommend Roku devices for veterans and new cord-cutters because they are reliable and affordable.
How to Watch Own Without Cable
You shouldn’t have to miss out on all the great shows available on the Oprah Winfrey Network just because you don’t have cable. With all the hassles from a cable provider plus not having on-demand access, it could be time you look elsewhere to fulfill your binging needs. But luckily you can watch OWN without cable TV!
The solution is streaming services. From live TV and local channels to sports networks and entertainment options, streaming means you can become a cord cutter (someone without cable).
Streaming Services
Streaming services allow you to watch on-demand content when and where you want. Most streaming services have multiple viewing options as long as you have an internet connection. You can watch OWN online while waiting in line or even in the tub. Plus, you don’t need to download the app with most streaming devices. You can watch straight from your browser. Talk about easy.
There are many pros to cord-cutting. Firstly, you can save money. Streaming services are generally the cheapest way to watch TV. Plus, they don’t come with the dreaded hidden fees cable normally comes with. There are no installation costs when downloading an app. Just make sure that you have a capable device (like a smartphone).
You can stream the Oprah Winfrey Network on platforms such as Apple TV, Youtube TV, Hulu Live TV, Amazon Fire TV, Sling TV, and DIRECTV Stream. Most streaming services offer free trials so that you can test before you commit.
If you’re hesitating to sever the connection, here are some other factors that cord-cutters vow makes the shift worthwhile:
- Closed captioning: It isn’t easy to find a streaming service that doesn’t offer closed captioning. Accessibility for all is important. For many viewers, not having accurate and well-presented captions is a deal-breaker.
- Live TV: You’d be wrong to assume that streaming services only offer series and movies. Almost all offer a live TV streaming service where you can watch news or sport. Truly only a few streaming services don’t offer this.
- On-demand library: It’s tough to stay on top, so the streaming industry is competitive with its options. You can find the latest and greatest shows being offered on multiple platforms. The channel availability is endless with streaming.
- Ease of access: You are no longer bound to the couch. Take your movies and shows anywhere and everywhere.
- Best services: No more waiting on the phone listening to elevator music, streaming cuts out the middleman. As long as your payment goes through, you can access the content.
